ing To The Root Of Your Problem

 by: Selena Richardson

Most people have some aspects of themselves that they would like to change. But how often do you dig deeply to find the root of the problem?

You have to address the issues that need to be changed. Without doing this you will be stuck in a cycle of trying to change but you won’t make much progress. Denying that there is something holding you back doesn’t make it disappear or magically turn you into who you want to be.

You can’t change what you don’t accept. So if you have problems accepting what you need to change, you’re going to have more problems making that change.

If you want more money in your life and are having problems achieving that you need to dig deeper to find something you may have missed about yourself. Do you have any long held beliefs about money that would prevent you from attracting what you say you want in your life?

Until those beliefs are addressed and accepted you won’t be able to attract the extra money into your life. Our thoughts, feelings and beliefs are what shape our reality. If you think you want more money in your life but your beliefs about money don’t match what you’re thinking and feeling it’s going to be difficult to attract it into your life.

There may be times when money will show up for you but you won’t have the steady flow that you want to achieve. Not until you accept that you have limiting beliefs about money and then change them.

You say you want to find your soul mate, your other half. But the people who keep showing up in your life lately don’t fit the bill. You’re starting to wonder if you will ever meet Mr. or Ms. Right. He or she is out there somewhere but do you have any beliefs about yourself that might be holding you back from attracting that perfect mate?

Again, you need to dig deep and search for any limiting beliefs or fears you might have about yourself and/or relationships. Until then know that the perfect relationship will come at the perfect time.

Remember that the answer always lies within. Resisting and denying aspects of yourself won’t get you to where you want to be in life. Only by digging out beliefs that don’t serve you well and accepting them as no longer being useful to you can you make a change in a positive direction.

American Dream” Success Model
The present model of business and career motivation , the one most closely associated with the “American Dream” which emphases enterpreuneurship, individual achievement, competition, and domination has been around for at least the last 50 years . Up to the mid 20th century, the predominant prosperity model was the Calvinist work ethic originally derived from the Puritan. The Calvinist work ethic emphasized hard work, saving for the future, and foregoing vacations, paying bills in cash, and foregoing luxuries to save for a rainy day. On the other, the motivation for moneymaking is no longer saving for the future, but, what Thornstein Veblen, the famous 19th century economist characterized as “conspicuous consumption.” Luxury homes, luxury cars, fancy electronic gadgets, and exotic vacations create the illusion of wealth. The philosophy of the Amway Corporation, now known as Quixtel in the U. S. is a good illustration of the concepts involved.
Amway Corporation is a direct selling organization that produces and markets products using a Multilevel Marketing system (or MLM for short). Multilevel marketing is a form of direct selling in which manufacturers authorize independent contractors to sell their products directly to consumers, bypassing intermediaries and retail stores. Using the garage or a spare bedroom as a warehouse and a home office as a business hub, a distributor makes a profit by buying wholesale from his or her company and selling to customers at retail prices. MLM is also a recruiting business. A distributor is permitted to sign up other individuals to become part of his company’s distribution force–and is paid a commission on the wholesale product purchases made by recruits. Both methods then furnish consumers with new options in acquiring consumer items they desire.
The motivator for work and sole measure of success measured is money and the goods that money can buy:
This is a business, and a main reason people work at any business is to earn money that not only will help them pay their bills, but also meet other goals. Those may be short- or long-term goals, and they could be large (like buying a new house) or small (like saving for a vacation).
A better standard of living is a common motivation and reward for people starting any kind of business. Money – and what it can buy – is the universally recognizable indicator of success that distributors use to motivate and establish credibility for their business.

Another important aspect of this success model is that one has only one self’s to blame for one’s own success for failure. And yet given the low success rate in Amway, “…the data from one investigative report reveal that only 1,000 of over 200,000 distributors ever achieved the rank of Direct Distributor or higher,” it is also quite clear that the company does not offer success to anyone who enters the business [Bromley, 1995:151]. How can all these well-meaning people not succeed?
The only ideologically accepted explanation is that these well-meaning people had no commitment to “the dream.” The product is irrelevant. It is keeping the dream alive and resisting everything that could possibly rob one of The American Dream that counts. For “the dream” is God’s blessing, the divine will, the American Way, family, morality, and the free-enterprise system. Hence, The American Dream becomes a cardinal article of faith, a foundation stone of America’s civil religion. [Striker 1984: 128]As Streiker describes it, the product lines in Amway come to signify and reveal something central to the growth of the company and the role of ideology.
Amway is a performance-based business that rewards people in direct proportion to their effort. The bigger the financial goal, the more time and effort a distributor will need to put into his or her business. With an Amway business, a distributor can work as much or little as he or she likes. The rewards are based directly on the distributor’s accomplishments.

Recently, the American success model has been taken a battering. The competition for business markets and jobs is stiff . The faith in business has been eroded by corporate fraud scandals, massive layoffs, and outsourcing. However, at least for nowFree Articles, it remains the predominant success model in today’s America.

Often, in today’s fast paced world, we forget to take a break during our working day. We simply figure we will get much more done if we eat on the run, have less or no breaks, and work more hours.

The real truth, though, is that this is counter productive and ruins the health of those trying to cram more into their day. Quality of work deteriorates and often people succumb to illness due to lack of focused physical activity and poor diet normally brought on by consumption of convenience food.

I regularly hear the same old argument as to why these people cannot become more physically active. Lack of time! They say forty-five minutes in a gym is not possible or practical. While, in the long term, what they require is a life style change if they want to enjoy good health as they get older, in the short term such people need instantly accessible methods to de-stress and do some good for themselves physically.

If they can do just five minutes twice a day initially it is a start. Perhaps once they experience the benefits of such short sessions they may well be encouraged to integrate more physical activity into their lives.

If you are feeling stressed at work (or at any time) and you feel yourself flagging try this simple breathing exercise to unwind and recharge your batteries, mentally and physically.

  1. Get comfortable and inhale to a count of three.

  2. Breathe deep into your body and feel your stomach expand with your palms placed gently on it.

  3. Exhale for a count of six and feel your stomach, this time gently squeezing inwardsArticle Search, eliminating air from your body.

  4. As you exhale allow the stresses of the day to leave your mind and body also.

  5. Repeat ten times slowly.

Congratulations. You’ve just done something positive for your internal health and stress levels simply by focusing on your breath and body!

se To Be Happy

 by: Selena Richardson

What if I told you that you have the ability to decide if you are happy or not. You would probably say that I’m crazy. 1. I’m not crazy and 2. Happiness is a choice.

You can’t depend on someone else to make you happy. That is a lesson I learned early on in my marriage. I realized that I couldn’t rely on my husband as my source of happiness. I learned that my happiness depended on me and not my husband’s actions. I learned that you have to choose to be happy.

You can choose your emotions. True happiness comes from within, it can’t be forced by outside forces. So how do you choose happiness? The same away you choose to smile or choose to wear a certain outfit. You choose it because that’s what you want to experience in your life.

You want to buy a new pair of shoes so you choose a pair that you like and feels good. You wouldn’t buy a pair of shoes that you don’t like or that don’t fit well, right? So why do we keep choosing emotions and feelings that don’t make us feel good?

Well most people don’t realize that you can choose feeling happy over feeling angry or upset about something. It’s not wrong to feel angry or upset but dwelling on it and letting the anger simmer for too long can have bad results.

Choosing to be happy after you realize your anger has shown up (or even choosing to be calm) can be beneficial. You end up acknowledging your anger and moving on instead of harboring those emotions until there’s a flare up. We choose our feelings, no one can do that for us. If we let others get to us, influence our emotions – we are giving them power over us. When others cause us anger or pain, we are giving them our power.

What about those who irritate us or make us mad? We have the power of choice but most times we react out of anger. Instead of taking a mental time out and knowing that what that person said is about them we unconsciously choose to react. The reaction is usually out of anger or fear. It’s a re-action, not an action.

How do we stop this behavior? We need to keep our feelings in check and not react automatically to what is thrown at us. We need to think our actions out instead of just reacting to what someone says or does. Reacting is responding to someone else’s actions. What we need to do is act on our own accord and not let the actions of others influence us. By doing that we stay conscious of our own thoughts and feelings and not let what others do to us affect our moods.

Remember that we can always choose happiness. At first it will be difficult to just switch your thoughts and feelings from anger, self-doubt, or fear to joy and happiness. But it is only a thought away. Don’t dwell on what happens to you unnecessarily but realize what is causing you to feel that way. Realize that thoughts, feelings and emotions can change. Then move on and choose to be happy.
